Matisse has always been a favorite artist of mine Matisse has always been a favorite artist of mine and even though I missed the exhibitionin Paris, I got to see one at the Art Institute of Chicago. It wasn't a huge exhibit but I learned more about the Jazz series and how it was in response to WWII. I never knew that.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. And of course. I wore my dress that is an ode to Matisse and has cutouts. My earrings and ring also play into the print on my dress

The @palaisgallieramuseedelamode is an exquisite c The @palaisgallieramuseedelamode is an exquisite collection for everyone who is interested in the creation of the items we wear!

I have wanted to go to the Palais Galliera but never had the chance. The museum houses collections of costumes and accessories, design graphics and, a restoration workshop. For this fashionista, a dream destination. This trip, I hit the jackpot. A brand new exhibition, Fashion in the 18th Century, started that day and another exhibition, WEAVING, EMBROIDERING, EMBELLISHING. The Crafts and Trades of Fashion, was happening that I also wanted to see. I'm always up for a two-fer!!!

I made my way over the museum and headed towards the 18th century exhibit first. OMG! They had clothes from that time period as well as vintage and modern clothes that referenced back to that era. I loved looking at it all. They even had a corset that Marie Antoinette wore!!! What exquisite clothes, shoes, hats, accessories!! Wow, wow, wow!!

The exhibit on the Crafts and Trades was soooo interesting. They grouped different types of craftwork and trades together so you could see the details. By the time I got to this part of the museum, it was packed!!!! I know I'll be going back again when I have more time!

On the way there, decided since it was such a lovely day, I would walk from the Marais to the 16th!! Took me about an hour and I enjoyed every minute!! I was early so I decided to walk around the neighborhood and stumbled upon the Marché Président Wilson I forgot that it was held on Wednesdays. What a nice surprise!! It was a very nice market and I did grab a pastry to hold me over until I went back to my apartment for lunch (I still had some roasted chicken and was not going to let that go to waste!!) If you like the markets, then I recommend visiting this one for sure!

I headed back to my apartment for lunch and then had to get my obligatory @berthillon_officiel Ice Cream!! I enjoyed eating it along the Seine since it was such a beautiful day!!!

I eventually made my way to @le_hibou_paris to meet mes amis and say au revoir!!! We had a lovely conversation and then parted ways. Bisou Bisou!!
Paris Adventure Day 13 My time was winding down i Paris Adventure Day 13

My time was winding down in Paris and this was next to last full day in Paris!! I had a lot to get accomplished! I knew I was going to hang out with my friend. She lives close to the Foire de Chatou so we decided to go again. First though, I got up early to see the Renoir Exhibit at the @museeorsay . I have the carte blanche so I can get in 30 minutes before the general public. Totally worth it!!! I've been on the 5th floor with all the impressionists by myself many times!!!

While waiting for the museum to open, lo and behold, Claudine Hemingway got in line right behind me! What are the odds!!! She was gracious and told me exactly where to go since I had to be on a train by 11am to go to Versailles to meet my friend.

Wow, what an exhibit. there were two collections: "Renoir and Love A Joyful modernity (1865-1885)" paintings and "Renoir Drawings" (over 100 pieces). They were superb!! I literally teared up seeing the dancers. How beautiful. So many great pieces of artwork: Luncheon of the Boating Party, Mother Anthony’s Cabaret, Mother Anthony’s Cabaret, Dance at the Moulin de la Galette, Les Baigneuses, and Maternité.

I hopped on the Metro to connect with the RER A once more. This time to Versailles to meet @marilomartin.creatrice We visited her studio (she is so talented. she makes scarves, jewelry, paintings and shows her work at Giverny!) Then she took me to a lovely little restaurant where everything is so fresh and very friendly. I keep on forgetting to get the name!! On y va to the Foire de Chatou afterwards.

If I had been paying attention in art history and in reading the book about Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party, I would have realized that it wI.as set in Chatou!!! We happened to park near the restaurant (it's still there!!!) and walked by it.

We had a lovely day again and I found another holy grail piece dress. Literally the words, I would love to have a piece by Azzadine Alaia, were coming out of my mouth and the next vendor had a dress that fit me and was in my budget. This dress had never been worn and was so superbly made. What a great way to end the day!!

Paris Adventure Day 12 Today was a truly wonderfu Paris Adventure Day 12

Today was a truly wonderful day. I got to share one of my favorite places, @galeriediorparis, with one of my favorite people, Kay! We had great conversations about the exhibit, the fashions and Paris!! We enjoyed a lovely lunch at their cafe to end our visit there.

I decided to walk back to my apartment instead of taking the Metro (about an hour walk) and see what I could find. On Mondays, a lot of places are closed but at least I could see the exteriors like the @le_grand_palais (still have never been in) and the @petitpalais_musee (still have never been in) The @hoteldelamarine was open and I had never been their either, so I guess it was my day to go!! They have a very cool audio tour feature that as you walk into a rooms, it triggers the associated audio. The narrator(s) tell of life in the 18th century.

Even though the headsets are huge and heavy, there is a lot of great information!

I also went to see the temporary exhibit, Dynastic Jewels, which displayed jewelry and artwork from the 1700s to the 1950s. The jewelry was exquisite and drool-worthy!!

I flaneured some more stopping here and there. I fulfilled Paul's request for hat near Centre Pompidou (closed for renos!!) Sorry didn't take any more pictures!! Then I headed back to the apartment to eat some more roasted chicken!!

The next day was starting early so I could fit in a visit to the Musee d'Orsay and the first day of the Renoir exhibit then on to Foire de Chatou again!
Paris Adventure Day 11 I got so lucky, the Foire d Paris Adventure Day 11
I got so lucky, the Foire de Chatou (a big antique show outside Paris) happened while I was in France. They only hold this twice a year in March and September. I've always missed it by a week or so!! My friend, @shoevagirl, and I traveled on RER A to Chatou and then walked across the river to the market. As you can see, the day was absolutely beautiful (even if a little chilly, but my new sweater jacket came to the rescue again!!)

There were vendors selling clothes, furniture, artwork, dinnerware, etc. You name it, you could find it. Of course, the first vendor we visited had hats (a weakness for both of us) so we looked through his 4 boxfuls! I got 2 and she got 5!! We had so much fun winding our way through the aisles and make sure we hit each aisle too.

We took a break for some crepes and then started back up again. We explored for about 4-5 hours then headed back to Paris so she could meet a friend for dinner.

I walked back to my apartment and visited a few stores here and there. I picked up some more roasted chicken, chevre, lettuce and a baguette for dinner! I had a roasted chicken almost every day, yum!!!

After dinner, I wanted to visit the November 13th memorial again to see the lights. The lights placed in the garden represented the stars in the sky that fateful night in 2015. I recommend going to see Place Saint-Gervais in the day and then again at night to see the full effect. After that, I walked along the Seine then headed back home to get ready for my adventure the next day!

P.S. I found Sting along the way, ha!
Paris Adventure Day 10 It was a beautiful (if not Paris Adventure Day 10

It was a beautiful (if not chilly day) so I went walking along the Seine and found a very cute dog park!! I was missing Heinz so it was fun to watch the doggies play!!

Later on in the morning, I was spent my first of 2 days with my friend, @shoevagirl She's originally from the Philippines but is living in Paris currently. We almost share a birthday (hers is the day after mine). We share a love of dogs, thrifting and vintage clothes. One of another event I had wanted to do over the years is @salon_du_vintage and Gizelle was game to go with me!! We saw some very cool pieces of jewelry and a lot of high end vintage clothes and accessories. If you love your name brand designers, then I recommend this show. Gizelle did find one piece that didn't break the bank!!

We walked around and visited some other vintage stores before stopping for a nice lunch. I'm always game for a good goat cheese salad!! We made our plans to meet for Sunday's adventure (another event that was on my bucket list) and parted ways for the day.

I wondered around some more on my way back to my apartment. I visited the interior of Eglise Saint Gervais Saint Protais. This church is behind the November 13th memorial garden.

After a quick stop at my apartment, I looked up some options for my evening. I found a ticket for "Oh My God She's Parisian" @julie_collas_the_parisienne but still had some time to kill so I wondered over to Place des Vosges to see the @maisonsdevictorhugo museum! It's been on my list too and I had the time so why not!!!

The museum was having an exhibition on Interior Design and Architecture, c'est parfait!!! I had no idea how involved Victor Hugo was with design. Everything was beautifully done, unfortunately, some of the original pieces were destroyed so they only had photos left.

That night I made my way to the theater to watch Julie Collas' sketch. Totally hilarious. It was in English (my french is no where near understanding theater en francais yet!!) She was a lawyer who decided to do something different with her life. I'm sure many of us can relate to that!
Paris Adventure Day 9 It was a very rainy day but Paris Adventure Day 9

It was a very rainy day but that didn't hinder me!!! I follow @ainsleydurose on IG (great baker and adorable dog!!) and saw that she and her husband @caferevelotion are at the Place Monge every Friday and Sunday so I made my way over in the rain!! It was totally worth it!! I got a chocolate chaud and a Gateau Breton (which I know how to bake too thanks to @Mollyjwilk !) I also wanted to get some more flowers for the apartment so I picked up these purple and white beauties! I made my way back to the apartment to have my little feast.

I always look forward to visiting Barb and she invited me to the @sebastiaosalgadooficial photography exhibit at the Hôtel de Ville. Wow!!!! What a talented photographer. I was blown away and fell in love with his photos escpecially of the wildlife. I only got the one shot, sorry!! If you are in Paris until May 30th go!!

After that we had a lovely lunch. Since it was chilly, we had French Onion Soup and I added frites! After we parted ways, I decided to visit @museecognacqjay It has been on my list and I always get it confused with Musée Jacquemart-André, ha!!! Both museums are centered around showing the owners private collections. Ernest Cognacq and Marie-Louise Jay founded La Sameritane (also an exquisite location to visit). The 18th century collection is housed in a 16th century townhouse. It's a lovely museum and definitely worth a visit!

I like to go to the concerts held in the churches but wasn't up to going to the 9:30pm show at St. Eustache (hopefully it's still happening on my next trip). I found one at Eglise Saint‐Julien‐le‐Pauvre. The pianist, Philippe Alegre, played romantic pieces by Chopin. Unfortunately, no photos or video allowed!! It was spectacular and the church was very lovely. It is one of the oldest buildings in Paris and is across the street from Notre Dame. There are some beautiful Orthodox pieces inside the chapel. After the concert, I dropped by Odette which is literally steps away.

My friend Chrissy even wrote a blog on this church!! https://www.parisianniche.com/post/paris-saint-gervais-saint-protais-church-a-literal-walk-through-time

Paris Adventure Day 8 Being solo on this trip all Paris Adventure Day 8

Being solo on this trip allowed me to really go explore on a whim! Today I decided I was going to visit the Marché d'Aligre and some addresses a new friend said I should see. My whim took me to some undiscovered areas and released the magic of being a flaneur!!

I absolutely fell in love with the Marche d’Aligre area. The amount of fresh food!! Wow!! Then my love of the hunt was satisfied with the flea market portion. While there I realized I was close the Coulée Verte and found one of the entrances. If you don't know what it is, thonk of the Highline in NYC. This was the precursor. It's a walking path that was transformed from old train tracks. It was so beautiful walking along here and really did remind me of my walk in NYC. There was a mixture of architecture from Haussmannian to Art Deco to Contemporary. Everything I love! And a great place to see cute doggies!!

After that I wondered the streets again and found some cool vintage shops plus the Market I always see occurring near the Place de Bastille. I think this is where a close friend finds her striped Breton t-shirts. I found a lovely blue, black and cream one fir a whopping 19 euros!! (wore it yesterday in fact!) I liked this market too. So many interesting things!

I even had a chance to walk by and visit Zeus again!

I always have to visit @thanxgodimavip when I'm in Paris. This is one of the best vintage stores! It's U-shaped and color coordinated! If you think the French are unfriendly, this place will prove you wrong! I tried on a Patrick Kelly coat ( sadly left it behind and will regret it forever!) They're are so nice and helpful.

I decided I needed to go back through the @fondationazzedinealaia Dior exhibition again. It was so crowded the first time. This time it was me and a few fashionistas!!

I then went home to have dinner and watch @francewithvero and Oliver Gee @theearfultower celebrate Vero's birthday with a walk. Little did I know they would be walking through my hood! Just as they turned the corner (and watching live) I heard her say she had a patron who lives in one of the buildings, so I decided to pop my head out and wave Bonsoir! It was a hoot!
Okay, I've got to take a breath!!! On my trip to P Okay, I've got to take a breath!!! On my trip to Paris, I couldn't believe my luck when I saw this,Thierry Mugler suit (and it's original belt)!!! Hmmm would it be my size? Would it fit?? Would it look good??? Oh my, un, deux, trois questions were all OUI!!

I did have to think about it and walked away, but once I had consulted with my friend and hubby, I raced back to the store. It was the last day of Fashion Week and I couldn't risk someone else getting it.

The jacket's lapels are so unique and asymmetrical. Then there is a space so the belt fits perfectly (plus a clever belt loop in the back). The shoulders and faux pockets help create the power suit dynamic!! The pants deliciously drape!! And to have the original belt after all the years made it even more desirable!!

Merci beaucoup @envoituresimoneparis for making a dream come true!!!

Of course, I'm not saving for a special occasion and wore to work. It was a hit!!! Now I get to say goodbye to all the black suits in my closet. They're no longer necessary!!

Paris Adventure Day 6! I was a flaneur again and Paris Adventure Day 6!

I was a flaneur again and decided that I had to visit Zeus (the robotic horse from the Olympic Ceremonies) and how fun that I saw horses on my way!!

On the way, I found a store for my baker's heart!!! They had so many cool molds, pans, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love E. Dehillerin but this was more specific to my baking needs versus overall cooking! It's right across from one of my favorite churches, St. Eustache.

I was also on a mission to try out the chocolate mouse at @chocolatchapon !! Well worth the walk!! When Paul and I had our vow renewal, the lovely people who came to Paris to witness it, gave us a beautiful gift of chocolate from this store. (How well the frites know my love of chocolate!!)

Doing all of this walking led me down the street (Rue Reamur) that from @french_frye_in_paris "Is this the Most Beautiful Street in Paris" you tube tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHhGgo06Beo&pp=ygUWYSBmcmVuY2ggZnJ5ZSBpbiBwYXJpcw%3D%3D

After visiting Zeus, I walked some more, discovered some new shops, had lunch then headed back to the Marais. I had a crepe the size of my head at the Marche des Enfants Rouge! I couldn't even remotely finish it. I can't imagine what the dessert crepes looked like.

I found a holy grail piece, a Thierry Mugler suit, at @envoituresimoneparis (one of my favorite shops). Too say, I was overjoyed is an understatement. It fit and still had it's original belt from the 80s!!! I'll never need another suit again!

That evening, I shared wine and charcuterie with a new friend. I had been wanting to try @caviste_vinosfera for a few trips but couldn't find anyone who would either drink wine or eat cheese!! Kind of a must!! It's a lovely place and I highly recommend it!! When you go, ask to have your tasting in the cellar!! It's so wonderful!!
